Matt Wisler returns from Gwinnett to pitch tonight. It appears it’s less of a reward for good work at AAA, where he’s been just OK, and more a promotion because there’s no better option.
The pitching has been woeful of late. It’s too bad because the Braves are hitting. They have already scored more runs in August than in any full month this season, as they’re averaging 5.2 runs a game. However, they are allowing 5.86 runs a night. Adds up to a losing month. And the home team is certain to allow more runs this month than in any other this season.
Maybe Wisler can regain the form he showed early this season and the second half of 2015. Backing him tonight: Inciarte, Garcia, Freddie, Kemp, Markakis, Recker, Swanson, Beckham, Wisler.
