Remember those days of yore, seems like the 19th century now, when the Braves routinely had fat leads in the division this time of year? We’d be fretting about how the team might lose its edge before October because the division was all but locked up.
The Braves are on the other side of that this weekend. The Natspos lead the NL East by 7.5 games as our worthies roll into the Cap City. Regardless, it should be an interesting matchup this evening, as Folty duels Strasburg. Also, former top draft pick Jason Hursh (pictured), now 24 and a washout as a starter, has been called up along with Akeel Morris, whom the Braves acquired in this year’s KJ trade.
Hursh has been good since going to the pen. Bowman has the details on the Braves site. It’s a rarity to see a Wren draft pick in the majors.
Whalen goes Saturday against some dude I’ve not heard of named Reynaldo Lopez, and then Jenkins, who’s been effective lately despite lots of walks, opposes Tanner Roark, who has had an excellent year.
Tonight’s lineup: Inciarte, Aybar, Freddie, Kemp, Markakis, Garcia, Peterson, Recker, Folty.
