I’m not sure the Bourn-as-leadoff-man experiment is going to work. Granted, he’s only been with the Braves for a week and a half, but he’s hitting .071 with a .133 on base percentage. For the season, he’s hitting .230 with a sub-.300 OBP. Sadly, after last night’s abomination, BJ has better numbers. Bourn’s a good guy and all, but boy has he declined in a hurry.
It’d be nice to win one at pet food park before visiting a Cubs team that’s 12-3 this month. Yikes. this is shaping up to be one of those abysmal road trips. At least San Diego and Chicago are nice places to visit.
Back to today, it’ll be good to see Julio fashion another quality outing on the road. He’s been solid in two of his past three turns away from home, and good this month: 2-0, 2.75 ERA with just 3 walks in 19-2/3 innings. Freddie’s back. That can’t hurt. The entire lineup for today’s 3:40 eastern time tilt:
Bourn, Maybin, Freddie, Markakis, Garcia, Peterson, Simmons, Lavarnway, Julio.
