From Thomson to Stults

No doubt the Braves ticket agents were extra busy following Friday’s announcement that Eric Stults will start the home opener. Stults didn’t spend a full season in the majors until he was 32 and produced mediocre numbers ever since.

But is he worse than Mark Redman? Here’s the last 10 starters of home openers for the Braves, a largely ordinary collection of pitchers:

John Thomson (ND) 5 IP, 6H, 1 ER,

Mark Redman (L) 5.2 IP, 9 H, 5 ER

Tom Glavine (ND) 5 IP, 7 H, 1 ER

Derek Lowe (ND) 3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER

Lowe (W) 6 IP, 5 H, 5 ER

Huddy (W) 7.2 IP, 8 H, 2 ER

Jair Jurrjens (ND) 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER

Huddy (ND) 4.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER

Aaron Harang (L) 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER
