Frank Wren all but out as #Braves GM

Via Mark Bowman:

Now that the Braves have been essentially eliminated from the playoffs, they might not wait until the conclusion of this season to make what would be their most significant organizational change in nearly a quarter of a century.

As the Braves have collapsed over the past few weeks, there has been growing reason to wonder about the futures of general manager Frank Wren and manager Fredi Gonzalez. The club has not dismissed a general manager or manager since 1990. But this could change within the next few days.

Bowman is a careful reporter, so you might as well eliminate the qualifiers. Wren is history.

He goes on to list Dayton Moore as the leading contender to replace him. Can’t say that excites me.

More on Moore later.

With today’s embarrassment, the Braves are officially eliminated. Our blog hosts suggested when this final homestand began, the Braves would need to go 11-2 down the stretch to get a wildcard spot, and so far, they’ve gone 1-5, as they have won on 4 of 18 games in September. They’ll have to go 5-2 the remainder of the season to finish .500, and that means winning more games in the next week than they have so far this month. And yes, the Braves have been the worst team in baseball this month.

Frankly my dear, does anyone give damn anymore [about the Cobb braves failings]?

I thought that symmetry might be in the offing and we would close 7-17. But we aren’t that good.

Like I’ve written here before, I can go either way with this. But if this is it and that gaping, fecalbrained buffoon is allowed to stay and run this team into the ditch again next year without any consequence, we’re going to be no better off.

Fecalbrained buffoon — nice, pepe. Sounds like at least one of the FBs will be gone.
