Open Thread, 8/22, #Braves vs. Jeanne Zelaskos

Nice to see the fellas take care of business last night. All too often, when facing a reeling team and a struggling young pitcher, the Bravos have done the opposite.

It figures to be tougher tonight. Our heroes will face a good, established big league pitcher in Mat Latos. On our side, Minor has looked good in back-to-back starts. Another quality outing tonight, and I’m ready to declare him back. We should be rooting for the Natspos as they face the Giants for three this weekend in DC. Sets up pretty nicely, really, with the Braves facing the sinking Reds and the Giants taking on the white-hot Natspos.

No BK tonight: J-Hey, Bonifacio CF, Freeman, J-Up, Johnson, LaStella, Simmons, Laird, Minor.

  1. A lot of scoring opportunities have been wasted tonight, but it looks like Mr. Minor is definitely back on track.

  2. It’s a shame our offense is so weak. I haven’t seen a team waste so much good pitching since the Mets in 1968-1974.
Our pitchers, on those rare occasions when they are given a lead, are throwing strikes and challenging hitters. They are giving up some long balls, but mostly solo shots. It’s a good sign.
