One month ago today, the Braves began a 31-game stretch against opponents with losing records.
They’re 17-9 so far, which is fine. They can ill-afford to negate that progress but stumbling tonight against the Fish and over the weekend vs. the Padres.
Henderson Alvarez has been tough on everyone except for the Bravos, against whom he’s 0-2 with a 6.67 ERA in five career starts. His opposite number, Aaron Harang, has won four consecutive decisions against the Marlins.
We spent most of the season waiting for Harang to fade into oblivion, he’s been stout of late, winning 4 of his last 5 decisions with a 2.12 ERA. He’s on pace to pitch 197 innings, at least 97 more than anyone would have anticipated.
CD and I will be at the game tonight — Row 1, Section 225. Stop by if you’re in the neighborhood.
Unfortunately, we won’t get to watch Andrelton — Fredi’s giving him a day off.
B. Upton 8 La Stella 4 Freeman 3 J. Upton 7 Heyward 9 Gattis 2 Johnson 5 Pena 6 Harang 1
Hmm, I thought Aaron got tagged for 9 runs against Miami once this year?
Brutal schedule coming up. Really need to make hay against the cellar dwellers.
