Open thread, 6/11, #Braves vs. Dog Chapmans

Surprisingly, Justin Upton is back in the line-up tonight, hitting 5th. Evan Gattis moves up to clean-up, and big ups to the White Bear for making good on our preseason prediction that he would outhomer Brian McCann.

Gattis, batting .414 in June, has 13 HR. McCann has 7. No contest when it comes to OPS, either: Gattis, .895; McCann, .645.

Julio T. is on the mound tonight, and, unlike most pitchers, Coors Field conjures up warm memories. It was the scene of JT’s first quality start in the majors, on April 23, 2013. After getting knocked around his first three starts, Julio allowed only one run in 7 innings. He’s been a rock ever since.

Here’s the line-up:

Heyward 9 B.J. 8 Freeman 3 Gattis 2 J. Upton 7 Johnson 5 La Stella 4 Simmons 6 Teheran 1

  1. Facing a guy making his debut. Typical. Other teams could call up a new pitching prospect every day to face us, and we’d probably lose 105 games.

  2. It’s been like that since at least 1993. We lost to half a dozen ragamuffin schmoes that year alone.
