This is the Melky we remember

Toronto made some big moves this offseason, all of which have failed miserably.

Besides the trades for R.A. Dickey, Jose Reyes and Josh Johnson, there was the signing of Melky Cabrera to a two-year, $16 million contract.

Cabrera is hitting .236 with a .280 OBP and .276 slugging percentage after Saturday’s loss to the Mariners, dropping the Jays to 10-21. He has ONE extra base hit.

  1. We can ridicule, but he’ll still pocket 16 mil if he stays off the juice. Baseball contracts are ridiculous.

  2. rob, No need for him to go back on the juice now. He already used it to get his big deal, and he keeps it all if he stays clean.

  3. living here in toronto . im living this nightmare and hated the melk man before a brave and certainly as a brave and of course post braves

  4. Melky didn’t force the Jays to give him $16 million at gunpoint. You had the pre -juice Melky and the steroided, All-Star, batting title contender Melky. The steroided Melky got caught and was penalized. Somehow, despite having every bit of leverage, the Toronto front office manages to convince itself to give Cabrera 8 large a year, despite pre-juice Melky never being close to that worth. Cabrera’s agent must have employed some kind of Jedi mind trick.
