Watch Rowland get ejected, Murph play catcher and the Braves lose by 8
Not sure if ClassicMLB11 is a sanctioned YouTube channel, but they’ve been posting classic games for the past few months with no copyrights claims from Bud’s stooges.
We originally linked this game, from May 1979, a few years ago when it made a brief appearance online. The Pirates won 17-9 before an announced crowd of 6,855 in a contest that was played under protest from both teams. There’s a couple of bench-clearing brawls, Ted in the stands, Bobby in the dugout, Ernie, Skip and Pete behind the mic and commercials for the Atlanta Chiefs in between.
Part 2 also features Rowland pinch-hitting at the 1:36 mark. Part 1, the second clip posted, begins with Ted delivering a rambling tribute to GM Bill Lucas, the architect of the ’82 team who had died four days earlier, and a $20,000 check to Knucksie in honor of his 200th win.
(Cue to the 1:48:47 mark to hear Channel 17′s very cool bumper music for the 70s Braves, followed by a Control Data Institute Commercial.)
