Open Thread, 9/9, Braves vs. the Tim Spooneybargers

South Florida’s always a good place to snap a losing streak, and the Braves are 5-1 there this season.

No need to stop now, stop winning at Miami I mean.

Who knows if it portends anything, but BJ and Fan are riding pine. Or whatever composite material the Miami benches are made of, which is probably something synthetic and pastel-colored. A win this evening would be most welcome, and the troops vying for that triumph are: Schafer CF, J. Upton RF, Freeman, Gattis LF, McCann, C. Johnson, Simmons, E. Johnson and Medlen.

We have five guys with over 100 strikeouts, led by Uggla at 155. But 2 of those guys are batting over .300. Simmons has played every day and has less than 50. I keep thinking about our host’s comment a week or so ago about Andrelton deserving MVP consideration.

The benches at Marlins Stadium are a composite. The primary material is the ground bones of unsecured creditors.

  2. A little high finance humor. I like it.

I’m not going to muddy the waters by listing all of the reasons I think BJU brings far more to the table than Uggla and doesn’t deserve to be equated with him.

Suffice it to say that I agree with half of the consensus here. I’ve run out of what little patience I had with Dan and want to see Elliot in there (or, failing that, Janish) for every game until we clinch and every postseason game.
