Fredi is running out a spring training lineup today. I fully endorse that move after playing until this morning. No need to be pushing guys with a Grand Canyon separating the good guys and the bad.
Julio T. will hurl, of course. I would be shocked if we see more beanballing. I’m not sure Strasburg was throwing at Andrelton. Two pitches behind a guy look suspicious, no question. Maybe I’m naïve, but the dude looked out of sorts, as he told D. Johnson. Little Stevie’s state of mind and/or body is not our problem. I hope the whole mess is over.
A final word about last night. How many saw Andrelton’s double play in the, what, 12th, 13th, whatever inning it was? The guy makes a spectacular play every night, but that one ranks with his best. CB texted that he’s better than Ozzie Smith. Bold, and I never watched Ozzie every day. Still, it’s hard to see how anybody could be clearly better than Andrelton. He’s the best defensive player the Braves have ever had, I think. Andruw was great. This guy, however, is in a stratosphere all his own. Plays like last night are unlike any I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t just make great plays in the hole. He makes up all new plays we’ve never seen anyone else make, like last night and the tag between his legs.
Today’s split squad:
BJ, Gosselin, Freeman, Gattis LF, Johnson, Laird Terdo RF, Janish SS, Julio.
