Open thread, 4/16, Braves vs. Shawn Sedlaceks

It’s sure to be an emotional homecoming tonight as the Braves welcome back legends Ned Yost, Bruce Chen and a certain RF whose name rhymes with manure.

Jeremy Guthrie toes the slab for K.C, who’ve won seven of nine on the backs of their pitching. The Royals have been limp offensively, managing just 4 HR as a team  — or as many as Evan Gattis.

Heralded prospects Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas, who slumped badly in 2012, are off to uninspiring starts, combining for just 3 XBH in 67 AB’s. Watch out for catcher Salvador Perez, a force behind the plate and at it, and hard-throwing closer Kelvin Herrera, who has 11 K’s in 5-1/3 IP.

Well, Ned did go on that legendary sailing excursion with Raffy Belliard…

It won’t shock me if Francoeur gets a long ovation.

  2. He’ll get the ovation Martin deserves but probably won’t get when he returns.

  3. Via DOB: Parkview baseball team coming down tonight to sit in right field behind Jeff Francoeur.

By most accounts Francoeur is a good guy, but the fact remains he acted as an entitled brat following his demotion and subsequent departure from Atlanta

It sounds like he’s a little more humble, realized his schtick wasn’t working with the fans. Citi Field was probably an eye opener too. I don’t wish him ill, but don’t expect to see him in the post season either.

  5. When you commit 3 errors and allow Jeff Francoeur to drive in the go-ahead run, you deserve to lose.

  6. Tough apparent loss of Avilan.
The lefties in Gwinnett are Ryan Buchter, Yohan Flande, Cole McCurry, Sean Gilmartin, Daniel Rodriguez.
And there’s Alex Wood @ Mississippi.

  7. Didn’t sound like Frenchy got much of a reception at all last night. Of course, he’s been back here a few times before with the Mets. CB, you underestimate Atlanta fans’ affection for Prado. He was very popular here and he’ll get a standing O his first time up.
