Open thread, 7/30, Braves vs. a case of the Mondays
It’s been almost a year since the Braves won on a Monday. The losing pitcher that day? Ryan Dempster.
Dempster may yet become a Brave but I doubt it. Fortunately FW has no interest in Josh Beckett, according to Bowman.
He better be shopping for a right-handed bat. Scott Hairston, who has a lifetime .507 slugging percentage against southpaws, would be ideal.
790′s mid day crew are talking about Soriano rumbles, that we might give up Delgado for a shitload of salary relief and a year and a half of Alfonso. At least if we had him and Fuggla in the lineup at the same time Turner Field would seem air conditioned at times.
I hope the Braves aren’t interested in Alf Soriano. He’s a tool and is only getting worse. Plus, he has a history with the Braves. Remember when Hudson plunked him here in ATL on the first pitch of the game after Alf flipped his bat after hitting, what was it, 3 HRs the game before?
Stay way, Frank. Stay away. I refuse to believe that’s a real possibility.
Okay, Francisco drove in 2 pinch hitting for Hanson but taking Tommy out was a dumb move. Medlen will be on a 70-pitch limit tomorrow so why burn the bullpen tonight?
And then he compounds the mistake by taking out C. Martinez.
A 70 pitch limit? I thought the purpose of Medlen going down to AAA was to “stretch him out”. Whatever. I’m sure Fredi had some nice cliches ready to explain taking out Hanson and Martinez.
I also wondered why Fredi felt the need to pinch-hit for Hanson.
Great throw by Prado to nail Reyes at the plate. And over the weekend Sutton pointed out that 5 of Heyward’s assists have been on plays at the plate, which is virtually unheard of.
