Open Thread, 7/29, Braves vs. Jay Johnstones
As I type it’s 2-0 Braves after two. I swear I was going to predict Uggla would finally do something today. This might sound loopy, but seeing him hit towering routine fly balls Friday night, and then line out last night had me thinking at least he is hitting the ball on the meat of the bat.
Halladay certainly isn’t the pitcher of a year or so ago. He’s recovering. The Phillies are playing shoddy defense, too. Good to sweep and start this 10-game homestand right. Win today and we could be looking at an 8-2 run.
Strange. Sweeping the Phils should feel like a bigger deal than this.
The Phillies just aren’t a good baseball team now. They got old quick.
We have won 15 of 20, but Washington came from behind 3 times and won in extra innings.
They put most of their eggs in one basket and it’s rolled down the hill. Maybe they can retool but it’ll take a while and their division title streak is history.
