Dan Uggla has been intolerably bad

He’s hitless again today, with the requisite strikeout. In his past 29 games he’s hit .113 with 39 strikeouts. Uggs is on a pace for 189 K’s, which would break his Braves-franchise record set a year ago by 33.

I’m not sure I want FW signing any more expensive free agents. Every one he’s acquired has been a bust, including Uggla, who’s due $39 million over the next  three years.

Uggla was acquired in a trade, but then Wren quickly signed him to a long-term contract. So while not a free agent signing, it was the signing of a new player to a major contract. And so far, the results have been less than stellar.

  1. We have to hope his 30 game hitting streak happens in Sept/Oct this year. He is kind of a pocket Dave Kingman, albeit a nicer guy by all accounts. Not that it would be hard to be nicer than Kingman.

  2. I’m thoroughly sick of this guy. He’s spent half his time here being completely useless. It’s inexcusable. He’s not a rookie. It shouldn’t take him 200 AB’s to solve his problems.
