Open thread, 5/17, Braves vs. Nate Bumps

The Braves have the A-team on the field tonight, with Bourn and Chipper back in the line-up and Brandon Beachy on the hump. He’ll be opposed by Ricky Nolasco, who had one great game against the Bravos but has otherwise been mediocre against the local nine, allowing 135 hits in 110 career innings.

  1. The top three for ERA in the NL:

    1. Beachy – 1.33
    2. Dempster – 1.74
    3. Lynn – 1.81

Who would’ve predicted that at the beginning of the season? Go Beachy; he continues to impress this season. I really hope he keeps it going and that Minor can figure his issues out; that might very well make us favorites in the division if that happens…

  2. Beachy couldn’t have picked a nicer team to throttle. I hate the Marlins. They have won far too many games against us the last 15 years.

  3. Sweet win. Seven different Braves with an RBI. Beachy with a complete game shutout that does my old school heart good. His willingness to pitch to contact is making his strike out “stuff” even better and allowing him to pitch deeper into games.
