B-Mac takes one for the team

Nice piece by Steve Hummer on the Braves catcher:

“I truly felt if I played up to my standards, the Cardinals don’t get in the postseason,” McCann said.

“I’ll answer [questions about the collapse], if that’s what you guys want to hear,” he shrugged.

“It’s expected. You have to answer those questions.”

Bet on a big year for B-Mac.

  1. He is such a pro.

  2. I had breakfast with some fellow long-time Braves fans and at least one of them thinks that McCann never did solve his eyesight issues, that he’s so good he can hit .280 with vision problems. I didn’t know about that, but I would like them to find a way to give him more days off throughout the year so he’s not burnt toast by September. I don’t expect Fredi to figure that out.

  3. Not many catchers are called upon to also be their team’s best hitter. B-Mac is special all the way around.

  4. Rob is exactly right: some rest would do the kid wonders.

Too bad Fredi doesn’t have a good backup catch…oh, yeah.
