Merry Christmas from Rowland

On this day it’s nice to remember our favorite team didn’t have to cheat to win. Okay, that has nothing to do with Christmas but Rowland is cheap so a clip from an old Nike commercial will have to do.

Ah, what the hell, Rowland is feeling generous.

  1. All 4 are wonderful. Thank you so much for this an all you do!

  2. And woo-hoo! I got a Rico Carty replica jersey for Christmas. (I’m not worthy of wearing an Aaron or Maddox or any other jersey with a retired number.)

Is it just me or have the Braves essentially stood still in the offseason?

    Addition by subtraction.

  6. Happy Christmas guys. Thanks for the clips!

Tokyokie, being the possessor of a replica jersey of the Beeg Boy definitely earns you points for coolness

I love Sparky Lyle’s anecdote in “The Bronx Zoo” about Rico playfully chiding him “Why you no challenge me? Throw me fastball!”

  8. cleteboyerfan: Well, although I love Murph, being one of 3,000 people at a Braves game wearing a No. 3 jersey (If I were worthy) would give a whole lot less street cred than wearing the Carty model. I sorta wanted a a 1957-62 Milwaukee Braves jersey for either Joe Adcock or Lew Burdette (those have the tomahawk on the front), but alas, nobody makes those. And the 1969 Orlando Cepeda was like $100 more.

  9. I’ll never understand how a guy can hit .366 with a .454 OBP, slam 25 homers, drive in 101 runs AND strike out only 46 times yet finish 10th in MVP balloting.
