David Justice as hitting coach?

Why not?

A guy with a .378 career OBP who NEVER struck out 100 times in a season knows of what he speaks. This whole superstar can’t teach thing is really passe, considering the likes of Don Mattingly and Mark McCheater have been successful batting instructors with their former teams.

Wouldn’t you love to see Jay Hey spend some time under Justice‘s tutelage?

That’s a perfect solution that completely ignores The Braves Way. Justice was too articulate and too opinionated and often blurred the team message of ‘quiet and confident.’ If Schiller and Wren had any sense they would see that just having Justice back on the bench in a uniform would draw a certain amount of fan interest, independent of his likely positive effect on J-Hey. He can join a list of ‘managers in waiting’ in time for next season’s all star break firing of Fredi. But I seriously doubt it will happen that way.

  2. Sounds good. But does anyone know if Justice has any interest in being a hitting coach?

  3. Who knows, but I interviewed him a few years back and he sounded eager to stay involved with the game (at the time he was a broadcaster, and was pretty decent, I thought). Moreover, he fully identified as an Atlanta Brave. Had a lot of interesting things to say about Clarence Jones helping him develop his power (Justice had 12 HR’s in Richmond the year before his ROY campaign with the Braves).

Does it strike anyone else that we’ve been trying to find a long term solution at this position since CJ was fired?

David would fit here well. Chipper still reveres him and I think he would have a lot of guys ears.
