What will be the next incredibly stupid move by the Lil’ Bears?

The Cubs badly need a left-handed power bat at first base, and Dunn is a fan of Wrigley Field and Cubs GM Jim Hendry, based on comments he made to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-TimesESPN’s Buster Olney guesses that a four-year offer from the Cubs would seal the deal.

Adam Dunn and Alfonso Soriano in the same outfield? On the same team? With Carlos Zambrano? Might as well add another terrible contract to the mix.

  1. Git ‘er Dunn!

  2. Please forgive me for trying to insert facts and logic into this thread but…..

If your franchise has to play so many day games due to zoning restrictions then wouldn’t you avoid signing older players, esp ones with conditioning questions marks and opt for younger, faster, stronger baseball players that could withstand an 81 game home schedule at Wrigley field. It seem that promoting a minor league manager with experience in the park, say, Ryne Sandberg. Then promoting and eveloping the young players you have in your system like Tyler Colvin, would be more apt to your limitations as a team?

  3. btw, The Big Donkey is hitting .200 w 9 home runs & 19 RBI after the All-Star break.

  4. He’s a slightly better Ozzie Virgil, king of the meaningless solo HR.

  5. Why? The cubs are a crappy team…why do they want to be buyers?

Gosh, I hope they sign Eddie Haas to manage.

  7. Is it just me, or does anyone else smell a K-Rod (ugh) signing for the Cubs? (please, please please!)

In ’87, one of my friends told me that Ozzie Virgil was going to finish the season with 40 HR and 39 RBI.

  9. Great line about Virgil.
