Smoltz and Ernie Johnson back with the Braves

As in Ernie Jr., who will be calling 45 Braves games on Peachtree TV this season along with Smoltzie and Joe Simpson. That’ll be a nice respite from Chip.

Smoltzie is also going to work with TBS on the network’s game of the week telecasts. No word on whether a retirement announcement is forthcoming.

Works nicely for me, all around.

Tommy G sounded good on today’s game. His sometimes-too-subtle sense of humor was working well, especially with Simpson.

It’s great to have Smoltzie back into the fold. My guess would be the retirement announcement will be followign soon.

  3. Great to have Smoltz calling games. Would be really cool to have him step down from the broadcasting booth once, don his old Braves uni, pitch an inning (one that we’ve already put away), then retire a Brave.

I thoght Tommy sounded good Tuesday. And now we have Smoltzie on peachtree. I think this is great! It is hard to believe that two short years after having them both on the team that they are now doing what I had always hoped they would be doing … calling Braves games! Never thought it would be this soon. We can thank the fact that they both want to be apart of Bobby’s last year for this.
