He’d play LF in Atlanta, writes DOB. In return the Fish might be interested in KJ, who has a lifetime .975 OPS in 30 games at ProPlayer/Joe Robbie/Dolphins/Marlins Stadium.
Uggla, who turns 30 in March, has been remarkably consistent during his four years in Miami, averaging 32 HR’s and 95 RBI, though he’s much better vs. right-handers. Last year he batted a paltry .208 against southpaws.
Dunno how he’d play in left, though he’s been pretty atrocious at second. I’d take him on the cheap, though I’d much rather have Brandon Phillips.

I’m not that high on Uggla. Strikes out too much for my taste, but he does have pop and seems to hurt the home team (.289, 18 HR in 284 AB). In his career, his lefty-righty discrepancy isn’t as pronounced: .263 vs. RHP, .241 vs. LHP.
Either Uggla or Brandon Phillips would be a nice addition to this team. I’d take Uggla’s power even considering his strike outs. I’d LOVE to see Phillips @ second. Would agree to see Chipper move to first and Prado take 3rd w/ Yesco and Phillips up the middle. We may need to lose Schafer, but I’m OK with that. McClouth works in CF and I’d like to see him for a full season in ATL.
Not a big fan of getting Uggla to play LF. Sounds like something the 1989-1993 NY Mets would do. Brandon Phillips would be very interesting. Not sure if Chipper would agree to move to 1B.
Phillips is a terrific ballplayer, from what little I’ve seen, but he doesn’t meet a current need. I would prefer to see Granderson over Uggla, whose numbers will slump a little when he can no longer feast on our pitching. Having been spoiled by the defensive prowess of Andruw, and remembering that shoring up out infield in 1991 made our pitchers better by a full run per game, I would not make a trade for Uggla.
I think it is time for Escobar to bat in the No. 3 spot. He is a natural fit there. Shall I tell Chipper, or will you?
The Braves desperately need a right handed bat and speed. Granderson is a lefty version of Phillips.
If we do this, I’m going to have to take back every nasty thing I’ve ever said and written about the runt and that will take at least two months.
Much more on board the Phillips train.
I’ll take Uggla for KJ, then platoon he and Diaz in left. Don’t want him in the infield under any circumstances.
Yeah, I can’t get over those botched plays at second in the all star game a few years back… i would be afraid to play Uggla at second base. It would be nice if we could obtain him and do some positional switching, but who knows if they are even thinking of it in that way?
Uggla would be nice as a #2 acquisition for the offseason… get a big bat and Uggla. And he’s not overly cheap- thus the MArlins are trying to get rid of him
How about Jorge Cantu? He seems to fit in to our needs much better.
perhaps, but his power dropped off big time this year…I’d be wary
