It’s surprising that he’s playing winter ball. I suppose it is, sadly, unsurprising that he’s hitting .188 in a handful of games in the Dominican.
According to the LA Times story linked above, Furcal talked Andruw into coming south to get in some swings.
Following that link, I see where Victor Diaz, who’s without a job, led the Domincan in home runs, and former Braves pitcher Jorge Sosa, who’s similarly unemployed, is the top pitcher. So why not sign these guys? Neither would cost a lot, and both might have something. What really bothers me about the Braves this off-season is that they’ve basically done nothing. And coming off a 90-loss season, you best be doing something.
