Top young southpaw now available

Having once again spent big for a player past his prime, the Giants may be willing to deal one of their promising young starters.

Lacking a potent offense, the Giants are flawed themselves. Having resisted offers of corner infielders for Jonathan Sanchez, general manager Brian Sabean hinted that he might at least listen to trade proposals involving the left-hander, now that Johnson’s aboard.

Sanchez wasn’t dominant last year, though he averaged nearly a strikeout per inning. He’s got serious potential, and he’s left-handed.

Might Francoeur interest Sabean?

  1. Sanchez was horrible after the All-Star break, 1-7 with an ERA of 7.47 and a WHIP of 1.66 vs. 8-5 with and ERA of 3.97 and a WHIP of 1.36. Seems to have a good upside. Certainly worth a phone call, although trading Francouer would make signing a free agent outfielder a necessity.
