Heralded Japanese amateur Junichi Tazawa is reportedly going to sign with the Red Sox.

According to the source linked above, Atlanta offered the second best deal, in terms of money and length. Texas’ offer was highest, but Tazawa preferred “Boston’s development plan”.

  1. I’ve been hearing reports now that Tazawa has been overhyped, that he doesn’t really have front of the rotation stuff and needs at least 1-2 years in the minors. I don’t think that’s the type of player we need to commit $6 million plus to. He’d be nice to have, but I don’t think it’s a huge loss.
